National Conference Leader Advocates Dialogue for Kashmir Resolution

Srinagar: Agha Ruhullah Mehdi, a senior leader of the National Conference and Member of Parliament, emphasized the necessity of dialogue between India and Pakistan to address the ongoing Kashmir dispute. During a news conference, Mehdi articulated the critical need for a structured negotiation process to resolve the long-standing issue.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehdi pointed out that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are in favor of a dialogue to permanently settle the regional conflict. He stressed that the restoration of Article 370, which previously granted special status to Kashmir, should be seen not as a final goal but as an initial step towards fulfilling the party’s commitment to reinstating Kashmir’s special status. The dialogue, he suggested, is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

Mehdi’s statements underline the persistent complexities in the Kashmir issue, and his call for dialogue reflects a continued preference for diplomatic and peaceful solutions over unilateral actions.
