National Assembly Sub-Committee Reviews Legislative Procedures and Member Privileges in Islamabad

Islamabad: Today, the National Assembly’s Sub-Committee of the Special Committee held its first meeting to review and potentially amend the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007, along with the privileges of its members. This in-camera session took place at 4:00 p.m. in the Constitution Room, Parliament House, chaired by Mr. Naveed Qamar, MNA.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting initiated a detailed examination of current legislative frameworks with the goal of refining parliamentary processes and enhancing the effectiveness of legislative duties. The committee aims to ensure that the privileges of the members are protected, fostering a more dynamic and responsive legislative environment.

The session was attended by Hon. MNAs, Ms. Shahida Begum and Mr. Pullain, as special invitees, indicating the importance of the issues under discussion. Representatives from the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs also contributed insights, underscoring the collaborative effort required to advance these legislative reforms.
