National Assembly Speaker Calls for Elimination of Child Labour


Islamabad, On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, emphasized the urgent need to eliminate child labour, declaring it a crucial step to secure a promising future for the nation’s children.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the Speaker described child labour as a significant barrier to the physical, mental, and emotional development of children, affecting millions worldwide. He highlighted the commitment of the Pakistani Parliament to eradicate this issue and stressed the importance of societal involvement to address it comprehensively.



The Speaker also called for increased investments in education, social protection, and child protective services to combat the root causes of child labour. He praised the collective efforts of various stakeholders in fighting against child labour and advocated for continued collaboration to enhance children’s rights and welfare.



Deputy Speaker Syed Mir Ghulam Mustafa Shah also spoke at the event, reinforcing the necessity of addressing child labour as a critical social issue. He emphasized the role of education and safe environments for children over exploitative labour practices. Both leaders urged government bodies, civil society, and the public to unite in this cause to ensure that children can achieve their full potential free from labour exploitation.
