Islamabad, In a move designed to streamline the onboarding process for its new members, the National Assembly Secretariat in Islamabad has established a one-window facilitation center. This initiative aims to assist and facilitate the newly elected Honourable Members of the National Assembly of Pakistan, ensuring a smooth transition into their legislative roles.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the facilitation center is located in Committee Room No.2 of the Parliament House and will be operational from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm starting from the 22nd of February, 2024. The center is set up to offer a range of services critical for the new members, including registration, official photography for identification cards, and assistance with completing necessary documentation.
This strategic move is intended to alleviate any procedural challenges for the newly elected members by providing a centralized location for all essential onboarding processes. The facilitation center will remain functional until the inaugural session of the 16th National Assembly of Pakistan, ensuring that all new members are adequately prepared to commence their legislative duties.
The establishment of this facilitation center underscores the Secretariat’s commitment to fostering an efficient and supportive environment for the country’s legislators, thereby enhancing the overall functionality of the National Assembly.
Islamabad, The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, led by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, held a session at Parliament House to delve into the case of 410 million rupees missing from an overseas Pakistan Bank account at Dubai Islamic Bank in Karachi. The meeting brought together prominent senators, finance officials, and law enforcement authorities to assess the situation and ensure accountability.
According to Senate of Pakistan, the Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Karachi provided a detailed briefing on the ongoing investigation, including the filing of an FIR against five individuals on February 19, 2024. With forensic reports for five accounts pending, one account’s analysis has been completed, marking progress in the investigative process.
Senator Farooq Naek underscored the importance of recovering the embezzled funds promptly, suggesting the freezing of accounts linked to the fraud. He stressed the necessity for a diligent pursuit of justice, asserting that the case should remain open until a satisfactory resolution is achieved.
Chairman Mandviwalla emphasized the committee’s priority to ensure the complainant is compensated appropriately, urging Dubai Islamic Bank to find a resolution to the issue. The committee expressed satisfaction with the FIA’s efforts thus far but directed an acceleration of the investigation to bring the matter to a close swiftly.
The meeting also highlighted that the issue, among others, would continue to be a focus for the newly-formed Finance Committee following the senate elections, ensuring ongoing scrutiny and resolution of financial irregularities.
