National Assembly Committee on Energy Discusses Efforts to Lower Electricity Costs


Islamabad, 11th July 2024: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Energy convened today to review efforts aimed at reducing electricity costs through enhanced anti-theft campaigns and minimizing line losses.



According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting chaired by Mr. Muhammad Idrees, MNA, was informed by the Minister for Power Division about ongoing initiatives to tackle issues in the power sector, including overbilling and unannounced load shedding, particularly in erstwhile FATA. The Ministry of Energy detailed its comprehensive approach towards developing renewable energy projects and improving infrastructure to support sustainable energy growth.



The session also addressed concerns regarding the local manufacturing of solar panels and the solarization of agricultural tube wells, underscoring the government’s commitment to reducing electricity prices and promoting energy efficiency.
