National Assembly Committee Elects New Culture And Heritage Chair

Islamabad: Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, Member of National Assembly (MNA), has been unanimously chosen to lead the Standing Committee on National Heritage and Culture Division. The election took place during a committee session held at Parliament House in Islamabad.

The National Assembly Secretariat’s Joint Secretary of Committees initiated the proceedings by explaining the election protocol. Ms. Mahtab Akbar Rashdi, MNA, nominated Ms. Iftikhar for the chairperson position, and Ms. Samar Haroon Bilour, MNA, seconded the nomination.

Following the uncontested election, the Joint Secretary of Committees conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Secretary General of the National Assembly. He also pledged the secretariat’s complete backing to facilitate the committee’s work.

Ms. Iftikhar thanked the committee for their trust and promised to operate on the basis of consensus. Committee members reciprocated their support for her leadership. Government representatives, including Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division Mr. Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Chief Whip of the ruling party Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Pakistan Peoples Party Whip Mr. Aijaz Hussain Jhakrani, also offered congratulations and support to the newly elected chairperson.

Other MNAs present at the session included Ms. Shaista Khan, Ms. Saeeda Jamshid, Ms. Natasha Daultana, Ms. Saba Talpur, Mr. Sajid Khan, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali, Mr. Umair Khan Niazi, and Mr. Khurram Shahzad Virk. Senior officials from the National Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
