National Assembly Committee Approves Outsourcing of Cleaning at Parliament Lodges

Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library convened a meeting at Parliament House on Thursday, led by Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, to discuss various operational improvements, including the outsourcing of cleaning services, construction projects, and security enhancements at Parliament Lodges.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the committee approved the outsourcing of cleaning arrangements at Parliament Lodges and decided to refer this matter to the Finance Committee of the National Assembly for further deliberation. The move to outsource these services follows a referral from the Finance Committee itself, indicating a structured approach towards improving operational efficiencies at the lodges. Deputy Speaker Shah noted that the plan to outsource these services is part of a broader initiative slated to roll out over two years, starting with sanitation.

The meeting also addressed the delayed construction of additional family suites and servant quarters adjacent to the Parliament Lodges. The committee expressed significant concerns regarding the escalated costs due to these delays and directed the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to enhance cleaning and repair services in the interim.

Further discussions highlighted the inadequate parking facilities at the Parliament Lodges, leading to the decision to convert a vacant space in front of Block-F into a parking area. Additionally, the installation of a biometric system was approved to monitor the attendance of CDA staff more effectively.

The Chairman of the CDA reassured the committee that tenders for the construction of the family suites and servant quarters would be opened within the current month, with all necessary measures being taken to expedite completion.

The meeting saw active participation from National Assembly members Ali Khan Jadoon, Ijaz Hussain Jakarani, Zainab Mehmood, Kiran Haider, Sardar Nabil Ahmed Gabol, and Shahida Begum, all contributing to the discussions on these critical issues.
