Islamabad, In a significant legislative move, the National Assembly passed a unanimous resolution today urging coordinated efforts among citizens, organizations, and government bodies to combat plastic pollution.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the resolution was initiated by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar. It highlights the severe threat plastic pollution poses to Pakistan’s environment, wildlife, and public health, emphasizing the necessity of immediate and unified action to mitigate these impacts.
The resolution also reaffirms the government’s commitment to environmental protection and acknowledges the harmful effects of plastic waste on the country’s ecological systems. In a gesture of restoring legislative norms, the House also passed a motion to end the suspension of Members National Assembly Jamshaid Khan Dasti and Iqbal Khan, which was moved by Tarar as well.
The session saw the swearing-in of Rabia Naseem Farooqui as a Member of the National Assembly by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow evening.
