Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) concluded its 24th Director Generals Conference at its headquarters in Islamabad, marking significant progress in combating corruption and enhancing financial recoveries over the past year.
According to National Accountability Bureau, the three-day conference presided over by Chairman NAB Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Nazir Ahmed, saw participation from Deputy Chairman NAB Mr. Sohail Nasir, Prosecutor General Accountability Syed Ihtesham Qadir Shah, various divisional Director Generals, advisors, and senior officers. The sessions focused on reviewing the performance of NAB’s regional bureaus and divisional offices, with a notable reported recovery exceeding 4 trillion rupees over the last six months.
During the conference, substantial recoveries were highlighted, including 2.5 trillion rupees by Karachi and Sukkur regions through the recovery of 1.8 million acres of forest land. Discussions also covered the auctioning of confiscated properties, the improvement of NAB’s training and research divisions, and the implementation of anti-money laundering measures.
Chairman NAB emphasized the importance of continuing to enhance public trust in NAB’s operations, acknowledging the role of new reforms and the establishment of Accountability Facilitation Centers which have reportedly improved Pakistan’s rank in the global anti-corruption index.
The conference concluded with a commitment to further improve NAB’s efficiency and public service delivery, ensuring that economic development is not hindered by anti-corruption measures.
