Nation to Observe Defence and Martyrs Day with Solemn Tributes and Gun Salutes

Islamabad: Defence and Martyrs Day will be observed across the nation tomorrow to honor the sacrifices of martyrs and Ghazis, and to reaffirm the country’s commitment to defending its sovereignty against all threats. The annual observance marks the day in 1965 when Indian forces crossed the international border during the night, prompting a robust defense from Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the day will begin with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute in all provincial capitals. These salutes serve as a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces in the defense of the nation.

Special prayers will be conducted in mosques throughout the country for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and for the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Fateha and Quran Khawani ceremonies will be held to honor the martyrs who have laid down their lives for the country.

In line with the day’s significance, Radio Pakistan will broadcast special programs that focus on the historical context of Defence Day, recounting the events of 1965 and the subsequent efforts to secure the nation’s borders.

The observance of Defence and Martyrs Day serves as an important occasion to remember the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistani soldiers and to foster a sense of unity and resilience among the citizens.
