Islamabad: Pakistan is set to observe Defence and Martyrs Day tomorrow, dedicating the day to honor its martyrs and Ghazis, and reasserting its resolve to protect the nation against any threats.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the observance marks the anniversary of the 1965 conflict when Indian forces attempted an incursion into Pakistani territory under cover of darkness, an aggression that was successfully repelled by the Pakistani people and military.
The day will begin with special prayers after Fajr in mosques across the country for the nation’s prosperity and for the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Fateha and Quran Khawani ceremonies will be conducted in memory of the fallen soldiers.
A 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute in each provincial capital will herald the dawn of the day. Commemorative events will include visits to the families of martyrs and to monuments established in their honor, reinforcing the nation’s gratitude and respect for its heroes.
