Nation to celebrate Pakistan Day on Thursday

Islamabad, March 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Nation will celebrate Pakistan Day on Thursday with a renewed pledge to transform the country into a true Islamic and welfare state in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and to ensure progress, prosperity and a strong defence of the country.

The day is observed to commemorate the passage of historic Lahore Resolution on 23rd March in 1940, under which Muslims of the Sub-continent set the agenda of a separate homeland for themselves. National flag will be hoisted atop all major government buildings. The day will dawn with thirty-one-gun salute in the federal capital and twenty-one-gun salute in provincial capitals.

Special prayers will be offered in mosques after Fajar prayers for progress and prosperity of the country. The special feature of the day will be the spectacular and colourful Pakistan Day Military Parade of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, which will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, where three wings of the armed forces will display their professional military skills.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to prevailing financial situation of the country, it has been decided to shorten the military parade. Radio Pakistan and PTV are broadcasting special programmes to highlight the significance of the day and pay tribute to the leaders of Pakistan Movement.
