Nation Remembers War Hero MM Alam on His 11th Death Anniversary


Islamabad, Pakistan marked the 11th death anniversary of the esteemed 1965 war hero, Air Commodore Muhammad Mahmood Alam, celebrating his unparalleled contributions to the nation’s military history. Known as M M Alam, he is revered for his extraordinary aerial combat achievements during the 1965 Pak-India war.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, M M Alam, flying an F-86 Sabre, famously downed five Indian aircraft within minutes, setting a record that has etched his name in the annals of aerial warfare. His total tally of nine aircraft during the conflict stands as a testament to his skill and bravery, earning him the top spot in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Museum’s hall of fame in Karachi.



Alam’s legacy as a national icon is underscored by his receipt of the prestigious ‘Sitara-e-Jurat’ and the BAR medal, honoring his valor and expertise in aerial combat. His death on this day in 2013 in Karachi, after a prolonged illness, was a significant loss to the nation.



On this anniversary, Pakistan’s military leadership, including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Services Chiefs, has paid homage to Alam’s heroism and enduring legacy. His remarkable achievements during one of the nation’s pivotal conflicts continue to inspire patriotism and valor in the hearts of Pakistanis.
