Sialkot: The 147th birth anniversary of national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, was celebrated with national fervor today. Known as the Philosopher Poet and the Poet of the East, Allama Iqbal was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. His contributions through poetry and political insight played a significant role in inspiring the Muslims of the Subcontinent, particularly through his historic address at Allahabad in 1930, which laid the foundation for the idea of Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Allama Iqbal’s address in Allahabad provided a clear direction and identity to the Muslims in the Subcontinent, leading toward the formation of Pakistan. To commemorate Iqbal Day, Radio Pakistan is broadcasting special programs highlighting the poetry and philosophical thoughts of Allama Iqbal, underscoring his influential role in shaping the nation’s history.
