Nation Marks 9th Muharram with Solemn Remembrances and Stringent Security Measures

Islamabad: Today, Pakistan solemnly observes the 9th of Muharram, commemorating the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions with majalis and processions throughout the country. Special security and traffic arrangements have been implemented in major cities to ensure the day proceeds smoothly and safely.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Islamabad Police have outlined a comprehensive security and traffic management plan tailored to the day’s events. The main procession in Islamabad will start at the Main Imambargah in the G/6-2 sector, traverse its designated route, and conclude at its origin point. Key roads, including the stretch from Fazal Haq Road to Kulsoom Plaza and Sadar Road between Iqbal Hall and Melody Chowk, will be closed to facilitate the procession and ensure public safety. Alternative routes have been suggested to minimize inconvenience to the public, with a request for cooperation with traffic police to maintain order.
