Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today paid tributes to Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, commemorating his 59th martyrdom anniversary. Major Bhatti is celebrated for his valor and sacrifice during the 1965 War where he played a crucial role in defending Pakistan’s territory.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari praised Major Bhatti’s heroism and the ultimate sacrifice he made for the country, stating that his actions serve as a beacon of courage and duty. He also reiterated the nation’s commitment to uphold the legacy of its heroes by being willing to make every sacrifice for the country’s sovereignty.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reflected on Major Bhatti’s strategic acumen during the war, emphasizing how his steadfastness thwarted the enemy’s attempts to capture Lahore. He praised Major Bhatti as a formidable barrier who stood firm against overwhelming odds, his deeds earning him the Nishan Haider, Pakistan’s highest military honor. The Prime Minister called Major Bhatti’s dedication a timeless example for future generations and acknowledged the enduring grief and pride of the families of all national martyrs.
