Nation Commemorates 76th Martyrdom Anniversary of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed

Gujjar Khan: Today marks the 76th anniversary of the martyrdom of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, celebrated across Pakistan with reverence and solemn remembrance. The observance included Qurani Khawani in mosques and tributes by high-ranking military officials, reflecting the nation’s enduring respect for its first Nishan-e-Haider recipient.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Captain Sarwar, born in the village of Singhori, Gujjar Khan district, was commissioned into the Punjab Regiment in 1944. His heroism during the Kashmir war in 1948 at Tilpatra in Azad Kashmir led to his supreme sacrifice, earning him the prestigious Nishan-e-Haider for unparalleled bravery in the face of the enemy. The Armed Forces of Pakistan, alongside the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs, honored his memory, emphasizing his role as a valiant son of the soil whose legacy continues to inspire.
