Nation Celebrates 147th Birth Anniversary of Poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal


Sialkot: Pakistan marks the 147th birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal on 09 November 2024, celebrated across the nation with various events highlighting his contributions and philosophy.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, renowned as the Poet of the East, was born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot. He played a pivotal role in the political consciousness of Muslims in the Subcontinent with his inspiring poetry and visionary political ideas, notably through his influential address at Allahabad in 1930. This address is credited with laying the foundations for the creation of Pakistan by advocating for a distinct identity and separate nation for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.



In commemoration of Iqbal Day, Radio Pakistan is broadcasting special programs focusing on the poetic legacy and philosophical insights of Allama Iqbal, aiming to educate and inspire listeners about his enduring impact on Pakistani identity and thought.



The government has declared on 09 November 2024 a public holiday to honor Iqbal’s legacy, allowing citizens to engage in the day’s activities and reflect on the messages conveyed through his works.
