Naseerabad Minister Calls for Swift Action on Irrigation Issues, Illegal Water Channels

Naseerabad, Provincial Minister of Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Imrani chaired a function dedicated to addressing the concerns of the Irrigation Department’s employees and resolving public complaints related to water distribution.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the event, which included key department officials and local stakeholders such as Yar Magsi Mehrullah Ansari and local landowners, focused on discussing the performance of the Irrigation Department and the various challenges it faces. Chief Engineer Canals Nasir Majeed provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s current operations and obstacles, highlighting the urgent need for restoration of the canal system and resolution of other critical issues.

Minister Imrani emphasized the necessity of taking decisive action against unauthorized water courses to protect the rights of legitimate till owners and ensure fair water distribution to cultivators. He also mentioned the removal of oversized pipes and stressed the importance of non-discriminatory service to the community as instructed by the Chief Minister of Balochistan and other party leaders.

Furthermore, during a later meeting focused on departmental efficiency, discussions on demolishing illegal channels and improving canal structures were prominent. The Minister also proposed a detailed assessment of certain canals to consider the construction of small dams to manage floodwaters from hilly areas. Imrani expressed his commitment to overseeing the fair distribution of agricultural water during the upcoming water season, recognizing the critical deficiencies in the current irrigation system that need urgent rectification to enhance the department’s effectiveness.
