Naseerabad Commissioner Urges Forest Department to Boost Tree Planting Efforts and Address Timber Mafia

Naseerabad: Commissioner of the Naseerabad Division, Moinur Rahman Khan, emphasized the need for the Forest Department to intensify their tree planting campaign and to combat the illegal activities of the timber mafia. During his visits to the forest department’s nursery in Dera Murad Jamali and the Jafarabad office, the Commissioner expressed dissatisfaction with the current efforts and highlighted the urgency of environmental preservation.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Commissioner Khan criticized the Forest Department for their lackadaisical approach towards the plantation drive, particularly with the monsoon season approaching. He underscored the importance of utilizing both the government budget and the department’s resources more effectively. His remarks came during an assessment meeting with Divisional Conservative Officer Samudran Khan Khosa, Forest Officer Naeem Ali, and Muhammad Yakub Lahri.

Further, Commissioner Khan was displeased with the absence of the District Forest Officer during his inspection at Jafarabad and ordered disciplinary actions. He stressed the necessity of protecting young saplings from the timber mafia, noting that the destruction of newly planted trees hampers environmental efforts. Khan also lamented the poor condition of the Jafarabad Forest Department office and directed that officers maintain a consistent presence to ensure the efficiency of their operations.

The initiative aims to plant more trees along the canal and its sub-branches, which are deemed ideal for such campaigns. Commissioner Khan’s call to action highlights the significant challenges and the imperative measures needed to ensure a successful and impactful plantation campaign in the region.
