Nantong HiTide Biotechnology and Pakistan Explore Collaboration on Animal Vaccine Development


Islamabad, In a key meeting on Tuesday, 23rd January 2024, Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, Secretary of the Board of Investment, met with a delegation from Nantong HiTide Biotechnology, led by its President Mr. Lin Xyue, to discuss potential collaborations in animal disease control in Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on the development of a vaccine for foot and mouth disease in Pakistan. Nantong HiTide Biotechnology, a company specializing in veterinary bio-products, aims to bring its advanced technology and expertise to Pakistan’s agriculture and livestock sector. The proposed collaboration could include setting up a laboratory in Pakistan, along with joint ventures and research and development partnerships.



Mr. Chen Shang, a Board Member of HiTide Biotechnology, emphasized the effectiveness and affordability of their vaccines, which are designed to enhance animal health for farmers in Pakistan. The company plans to establish a new facility in Pakistan to develop and produce high-quality vaccines for various animals, including cattle, pets, and poultry.



Founded in 2017 by Dr. Lin Xuye, Nantong HiTide Biotechnology has emerged as a leading private high-tech enterprise in animal vaccines and adjuvants. The company has successfully competed with industry giants like Pfizer and Boehringer Ingelheim with some of its products.



The company’s interest in Pakistan extends to both the private and public sectors, aiming to contribute significantly to the country’s livestock industry. Nantong HiTide Biotechnology is committed to sustainable and healthy development and has been actively involved in animal disease surveillance, diagnosis, testing, prevention, and training services.



Secretary Muhammad Sohail Rajput expressed strong support for the collaboration, recognizing the need to adapt to global circumstances in animal health protection. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Pakistan’s farmers, especially during last year’s floods and the diseases that affected a significant number of cattle.



At the conclusion of the meeting, Secretary Rajput assured full support for establishing Nantong HiTide Biotechnology’s technology in Pakistan. The delegation invited Secretary Rajput to visit their facilities in China, aiming to strengthen a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.
