Bhag, September 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):The five-day ‘Nanga Pir Festival 2022’, organized at Nanga Pir, a tourist destination of Bagh in Azad Kashmir concluded, today. The main purpose of the festival was to draw people’s attention to the natural beauty of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The second phase of the event was marked by Agri AJK Festival.
At the start of the festival, 300 bike riders besides other tourists from Pakistan were welcomed at the Kohala Bridge on September 23. After that, the flag hoisting ceremony was held at Hans Chowki to express solidarity with the Pakistan Army and pay tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the homeland as the Defence Day falls in the month of September. Several sports competitions were also held in connection with the festival.
Hikers visited Nanga Pir by hiking from Bees Bagla, while kabaddi and local sports competitions will be held at Sari Top in which teams from Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Jhelum participated. A speech competition between local schools on the defense of the country was also held at Bees Bagla.
A Martyrs Conference was organized in Dhirkot, AJK, to pay tributes to the martyrs of Nanga Pir and Kashmir. Raja Nisar Ahmed Shahique, a dynamic political and social figure of AJK and chief organizer of the festival, presided over the event.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leaders in their addresses said that the people of Nanga Pir have played an important role in the freedom movement of Kashmir from 1947 till now and sacrificed their precious lives. This is the land of martyrs.
APHC-AJK chapter General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Information Secretary, Imtiaz Wani, Member of AJK Legislative Assembly, Imtiaz Naseem, Former Secretary to Government and social personality Raja Muhammad Irshad Khan Vice President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Raja Mehtab Ashraf Khan, Dr Nisar Ahmed, Sardra Abeer Abbasi, Raja Wajid Ali Khan, Professor Riaz Asghar Maloti and other leaders addressed the Martyrs Conference.
Nisar Ahmed Shahique talking to the media said the people of AJK often enjoy events like Nanga Pir Festival while their brothers in IIOJK are not even allowed to go to the parks. He appealed to the international community, particularly the United Nations, to increase pressure on India to allow the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control to participate in festivals and other activities like the Nanga Pir festival without any hindrance.
