Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) announced the recovery and disbursement of over Rs. 88 billion during the first quarter of 2025. The recoveries, consisting of direct and indirect recoveries, were returned to the affected entities and individuals, reflecting NAB’s ongoing efforts to combat financial misconduct.
According to a statement by the Press Information Department, NAB achieved direct recoveries worth Rs. 2.085 billion and indirect recoveries amounting to Rs. 86 billion. The indirect recoveries included significant retrievals of public and private lands linked to illegal transfers and occupations, with notable results from various regional NAB offices.
NAB (Balochistan) reclaimed state land valued at Rs. 6.45 billion, while NAB (KPK) secured Rs. 0.56 billion in a case involving university and departmental officials. NAB (Lahore) recovered Rs. 70.87 billion in three major cases, and other regional offices also reported successful recoveries.
In terms of disbursement, NAB transferred Rs. 9.72 million to the Federal Government, Rs. 10.80 million to Provincial Governments, and Rs. 73.51 million to different departments and financial institutions. Additionally, Rs. 1990.771 million was distributed directly to 19,105 victims of various scams.
This quarter’s recoveries contribute to NAB’s cumulative recovery total of Rs. 6.236 trillion since its inception, with a significant portion recovered in the past 18 months. The efforts underscore NAB’s dedication to recovering public funds and promoting a corruption-free Pakistan.
