Islamabad, July 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Standing Committee on Energy (Power Division) directed Power Division to mediate and get the issue of Energising of 11 KV Barrage Feeder from 132kv/11kv switch yard, Guddu resolved within a weeks’ time. The Committee expressed its concern over the lingering issue of energising the Feeder which was badly effecting the people of the area and their livelihoods. The Committee met under the chairmanship of Sardar Riaz Mehmood Khan Mazari, MNA in Parliament House, this afternoon.
The Chief Executive Officer of Central Power Generation Company Guddu apprised the Committee that the Company was a power generation company and not the distribution company therefore distribution of power was not its mandate. He proposed that the Sukkur Electric Power Company to take the possession of the grid station and energise the feeder. The Chief Executive Officer SEPCO apprised the Committee that the Company management of GENCO-II was approached to energise the affected barrage feeder by its resources and shifted required equipment however the permission was refused on the pretext of overloading of corresponding power transformer.
The Minister for IPC Mr. Ehsaan Mazari participating in the meeting on special permission by the Committee apprised that he had approached the GENCO management to resolve the issue but no one paid heed to his repeated requests. He said that people of the area were ultimate sufferers in the feud between both the government entities. He said that being elected representative of the area he would raise the issue at every forum.
Later the Committee was apprised about the completed and progress on SDGs village electrification schemes in Multan and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company. The CEOs of the both the Companies informed that material procurement had been done and the despatch of material to the sites was in progress. They assured that all the schemes would be completed by September 2023.
The Committee while discussing the issue of unannounced load shedding and issues of low power voltage directed the Ministry to ensure compliance of all obligations by the power distribution companies towards their consumers. The Power Division was also asked to ensure that no area in the country was subjected to power outages and low voltage. The Committee also directed Power Division to sort out the power outage issue in Areas adjacent to Tarbela Dam as pointed out by one of the Members of the Committee. The Committee decided to meet on 3rd July, 2023 in Parliament House to discuss implementation of its recommendations.
The Committee meeting was attended by MNAs Ch. Khalid Javed, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Mr. Muhammad Sajjad, Jam Abdul Karim Bijar, Mr. Kamal Uddin, Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali, Makhdoom Syed Sami ul Hasan Gillani, Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla, Secretary Power Division, Chief Executive Officers of Electricity Distribution and Generation Companies.
