Islamabad, June 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):The meeting for the election of the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting was held today at 11:30 a.m. in the Committee Room No. 2, Second Floor, Parliament House, and Islamabad.

2. The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Then, the Joint Secretary, Committees Wing, National Assembly Secretariat, welcomed the Honorable Members and briefed them about the procedure for election of the Chairperson.

3. Mr. Armaghan Subhani, MNA, Member of the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting proposed the name of Ms. Javeria Zafar Aheer, MNA, as the Chairperson of the Committee. The proposal was seconded by Ms. Naz Baloch, MNA, and accordingly, Ms. Javeria Zafar Aheer, MNA, was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting.

4. The Chief Whip congratulated the newly elected Chairperson and assured that the Government shall provide all possible support for the effective and meaningful working of the Committee. Afterwards, the Chairperson gave a note of thanks to the members which was responded by the felicitation notes from each member with the assurance of supporting the Chairperson on all matters in the national interest of Pakistan.

5. Honorable Members/MNAs Ms. Javeria Zafar Aheer, Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, Mr. Armaghan Subhani, Mr. Nadeem Abbas, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Behan, Ms. Naz Baloch, Mr. Shahnaz Naseer Baloch, and the Chief Whip Mr. Murtaza Javed Abbasi attended the meeting.
