NA Standing Committee on House and Library meets

Islamabad, August 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Acting Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani chaired the meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library at Parliament House today. The Committee members expressed displeasure for not handing over of occupation of plots in National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS) to those employees who have deposited full payment. The Committee directed District Administration Islamabad to present detailed report in the next meeting of committee.

The committee also directed to governing body of NAECHS to brief the next meeting in detail. Acting Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani has said that NAECHS is attached with Parliament, therefore all possible measures would be taken to resolve the issues related to it. He also expressed displeasure over absence of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad from Committee meeting without any prior intimation.

The members of Standing Committee on House and Library took notice of the substandard repair/renovation work carried out in the Parliament House by CD A. The Committee members directed the Capital Development Authority to follow austerity and transparency in spending public money on such work. The committee members also sought detailed report of expenditure and maintenance work in Parliament house.

Taking notice of over-staffing in Parliament lodges Islamabad, the Committee unanimously directed CDA for rationalizing the strength of CDA staff. The Committee also directed to adopt rotational policy in posting and transfer of CDA staff in Parliament Lodges. Further, the committee directed to install Biometric attendance system of staff in Parliament Lodges to ensure their presence.

The committee also noticed that there was no lift in parliament lodges which have the capacity of taking stretcher for an emergency patient from Parliament Lodges. The CDA was directed to install such lift in Parliament lodges. The Committee members also raised the issue of termite in the rooms of parliament lodges as the termite issue has intensified after treatment of CDA.

Acting Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani directed CDA to address the complaints of Parliamentarians on priority basis and take the best outcome of public money while spending it. The Committee meeting was attended by MNAs Ms. Kishwar Zahara, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Ms. Musarat Rafique, Ms. Nuzhat Pathan, Ms. Aliya Kamran and senior officers of National Assembly Secretariat, CDA and Ministry of Interior.
