Islamabad: In a significant move, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has issued production orders for several Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) currently in the custody of Islamabad Police. The orders are aimed at ensuring the MNAs’ participation in the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the production orders encompass MNAs Malik Aamir Dogar, Zain Hussain Qureshi, Waqas Akram, Sher Afzal, Muhammad Ahmed Chatta, Zubair Khan Wazir, Owais Haider Jakhar, Syed Shah Ahad Ali Shah, Naseem Ali Shah, and Muhammad Yusuf Khan. These orders have been issued under Rule 108 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, 2007.
The National Assembly Secretariat has notified the Secretary of the Interior Division, the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, directing them to ensure the presence of these detained members for the current legislative session. This step underscores the importance of the participation of all elected representatives in the legislative process, irrespective of their current legal challenges.
