Islamabad, July 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that governance plays a significant role to shape a nation’s progress and development. He said that effective governance serves as the cornerstone for a prosperous and equitable society. He also emphasized that transparent, accountable, and responsive governance is a catalyst for positive change and sustainable growth. He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural session of Pakistan Governance Forum 2023 in Islamabad today.
Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that inclusive governance has a chance to contribute to and benefit from the nation’s advancement. He also expressed his belief that Parliament plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective governance. He also said that Parliament serves as the vanguard of democracy. He stressed on the need to follow principles of good governance transparency, accountability, inclusivity, and responsiveness- and work diligently to build a society where prosperity and equity coexist.
While highlighting the significance of National Assembly as a supreme legislative body, he said that it crafts laws and policies that shape society and protect citizens’ rights. He also said that by holding the government accountable and facilitating public feedback, the National Assembly upholds transparency and accountability.
He reaffirmed his resolve that National Assembly would continue to be the voice of the people and a symbol of hope for a better future. He also said that stability in governance plays a pivotal role in shaping a nation’s progress and fostering social cohesion. While emphasizing the need for political stability, it instills confidence and trust among its citizens, creating a conducive environment for economic growth and development.
The inaugural session of Pakistan Governance Forum 2023 was also addressed by Federal Minister for Planning Mr. Ahsan Iqbal and the conference was also attended by expert academia and seasoned intelligentsia in governance.
