Islamabad, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has brought to light his views on the longstanding Kashmir issue, characterizing it as an unresolved component of the Subcontinent’s partition.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, Ashraf recalled the events of 27th October 1947, stating that on this day, the Indian Army entered Jammu and Kashmir, thereby denying the Kashmiri populace their right to self-determination. Ashraf remarked on the prolonged period of unrest and challenging circumstances faced by the inhabitants of Kashmir over the past seventy years. He cited the numerous graves in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir as evidence of the region having been transformed into a burial ground for its people.
Emphasizing the interdependence of regional tranquility with the resolution of the Kashmir disagreement, Ashraf pointed to the guidelines provided by United Nations resolutions and the desires of the Kashmiri citizens. The Speaker reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to backing the Kashmir cause, noting its consistent endeavors to amplify the issue on both regional and international platforms.
Moreover, Ashraf lamented the actions of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, stating that their approach towards the local civilians was unparalleled in the annals of global history.
