Muzaffarabad Workshop Stresses Importance of UN Resolutions in Kashmir Issue

Muzaffarabad, A two-day national workshop on Kashmir, jointly organized by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and the Kashmir Institute of Management Sciences (KIMS), concluded in Muzaffarabad with an address by Corps Commander Lt General Shahid Imtiaz. The workshop, attended by officials, journalists, and students, emphasized the current situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and the critical role of credible information.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the Kashmir conflict and the developments along the Line of Control (LOC). Lt. General Shahid Imtiaz underscored in his closing remarks that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute is a matter of international law, aligning with the United Nations resolutions, rather than being subject to Indian domestic laws.

The workshop also shed light on the challenges posed by social media in the dissemination of information. Lt. General Imtiaz pointed out the difficulty in navigating the sea of misinformation and stressed the necessity of equipping the public with the means to discern fake news to maintain societal harmony.

The event highlighted the longstanding cultural ties between Kashmir and Pakistan, with General Imtiaz referencing the historical context of the Muslim subcontinent’s quest for a homeland rooted in Islamic ideology and values. Moreover, Brigadier Wasif Mehmood provided insights into the development efforts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), such as the establishment of a software technology park in Mirpur city, underscoring the military and SCO’s role in enhancing public facilities in the region.
