Muzaffarabad Seminar and Rally Call for Justice in Kunan Poshpora Mass Rape Case

Muzaffarabad, A seminar and protest rally were held in Muzaffarabad, organized by the International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, to mark the anniversary of the Kunan Poshpora mass rape, a grave incident involving Indian troops in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The event aimed to highlight the atrocities committed against Kashmiri women and demand justice for the victims of this heinous crime that occurred on the nights of February 22 and 23, 1991.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar was chaired by Harit Rahnama Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Vice Chairman of the Forum, with Imtiaz Naseem, Minister of Azad Kashmir Government, attending as a special guest. The gathering sought to draw international attention to the plight of Kashmiri women, emphasizing the need for justice for the victims of Kunan Poshpora. Prominent figures, including Raja Sajjad Latif Khan, Director of Liberation Cell; Usman Ali Hashmi, Vice Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat; and representatives from various women’s organizations, addressed the attendees, sharing their insights and concerns.

Speakers at the seminar underscored the ongoing struggles and sacrifices of Kashmiri women in their fight for rights and freedom, noting the loss of husbands, sons, and brothers in the conflict. The event concluded with a protest rally where participants voiced their demands for justice for the women of Kunan Poshpora and called for an end to the oppression by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
