Muzaffarabad Marks 31st Anniversary of Sopore Massacre with Anti-India Demonstration

Muzaffarabad, A significant anti-India protest was held in Muzaffarabad to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Sopore massacre, where Indian troops committed atrocities against civilians in the Sopore town of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, on this day in 1993, Indian Border Security Force troops carried out a violent attack in Sopore, resulting in the death of over 60 innocent people and the destruction of more than 400 shops and residential houses. The demonstration in Muzaffarabad, organized by the Tehreek-e-Shababul Muslimeen Students Wing at Burhan Wani Chowk, saw a significant turnout of people protesting against the massacre and ongoing Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir.

Speakers at the event paid homage to the victims of the Sopore carnage and emphasized that such massacres are stark evidence of Indian state terrorism in the region. They asserted that the Kashmiri people remain resolute in their freedom movement despite India’s attempts to suppress their struggle through violence and intimidation.

The demonstrators raised slogans against Indian atrocities and in support of Kashmir’s liberation from illegal occupation. The protest saw the participation of various leaders and activists, including Tehreek-e-Shababul Muslimeen Students Wing Chairman Riaz Ahmed Awan, PPP Azad Jammu and Kashmir leader Shaukat Javed Mir, and others. They collectively voiced their commitment to the Kashmiri cause and called for an end to the Indian occupation.
