Muzaffarabad, Muzaffarabad witnessed a significant rally today, condemning the actions of India in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Organized by the All Party Hurriyat Conference and the Tehreek Shababul Muslimeen Students Wing, the protest marked the eve of the Kashmir Black Day, which is observed on the 27th of October.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, the rally saw a robust turnout, with attendees carrying banners and placards, decrying the 27th of October as a Black Day for Jammu and Kashmir. The procession was spearheaded by APHC-AJK leader Mushtaq Ahmed Butt.
Speakers addressing the assembly asserted that the 27th of October in 1947 represents a grave moment for the Kashmiri populace. On that day, Indian troops were deployed to Jammu and Kashmir, contravening the wishes of the Kashmiri people and breaching international legal standards. They also lamented the prolonged inaction of the United Nations and the global community in addressing the Kashmir conflict, even after seven decades.
Notable attendees at the rally included Dr Manzoor Ahmad, Chairman Students Wing Riaz Awan, Vice Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Usman Ali Hashim, Chief Organizer Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Saqib Majeed Raja, and various other leaders from political and social circles.
Apart from focusing on the Kashmir issue, protestors also voiced their support for the people of Palestine, denouncing the adverse actions of the Israeli army. They appealed to the global community to intervene and curtail Israel’s purported transgressions against innocent Palestinians.
