Bhopal, August 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Bharatiya Janta Party government in India has further tightened the noose around the Muslims on one after another charge particularly after the takeover of Afghanistan by Taliban on August 15, this year, also the day of independence for India.
Political analysts see the situation for Muslims as the worst for Muslims in states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh which are ruled by BJP hardliners. In Madhya Pradesh, for example, the government has made a ridiculous claim that one of the men arrested in connection with a protest and for spreading ‘inflammatory messages’ after the thrashing of a Muslim bangle seller in Indore has links with Pakistan through social media.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra also claimed that the arrested person, Altamash Khan, is associated with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) headed by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. Police arrested four people, including Altamash Khan, on charges of spreading ‘inflammatory’ messages on social media.
The analysts say that the Muslims are becoming the worst victims at the hands of extremist Hindus as well state machinery in India particularly after takeover of Afghanistan by Taliban, and when they (Indian Muslims) protest against the inhuman treatment, the BJP government, in turn, arrests them on baseless charges.
They quoted the following statement of Mishra who told reporters that “… one of the arrested persons, Altamash Khan, who staged a protest at a police station (in Indore) after the bangle seller incident, has links with Pakistan through What Sapp and Facebook” and said that the noose has been tightened around the Muslims in India under Modi.
The analysts questioned whether to be associated with the AIMIM of Asaduddin Owaisi, as Mishra claimed, is a sin in India? Police had said the detainees, identified as Altamash Khan, Mohammad Imran Ansari, Javed Khan and Syed Irfan Ali, all in the age group of 20 to 30, were inspired by a radical ideology. However, it didn’t elaborate what the radical ideology was.
