Aligarh: A Muslim student was discovered dead at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the student, Mohammad Shakir, hailed from Lakhimpur Kheri and was pursuing a master’s degree in theology. His lifeless body was found in the Mumtaz Hostel at Aftab Hall.

Officials stated that laborers working on road construction at the hostel found Shakir’s body hanging from a rope and promptly alerted the university administration. The police and AMU’s proctorial team quickly arrived at the scene to begin an investigation.

“The entire matter is being investigated. The family members of the student have been informed. Action will be taken after the investigation,” said Wasim Ali, the university’s proctor.
