Islamabad: Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed has strongly criticized the worsening human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), particularly following recent events in Pahalgam.
During a reception in Islamabad held to honor Abdul Hafeez Khan, a US-based businessman and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient, Mushahid Hussain Syed voiced his concerns over the Indian government’s actions. He highlighted the forced separation of families, where married Kashmiri women are compelled to return to Pakistan, leaving their children and families in Kashmir. He described these actions as a grave breach of humanitarian standards.
Senator Hussain reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri struggle. He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir, the country’s armed forces are prepared to defend national sovereignty and support the oppressed people of Kashmir.
Abdul Hafeez Khan expressed his gratitude for the recognition he received and reaffirmed his dedication to the cause. He promised to collaborate with the Kashmiri community in the United States to raise global awareness about the Kashmir dispute, highlight ongoing Indian human rights violations, and advocate for justice, dignity, and the right to self-determination for the people of IIOJK.
Several Hurriyat leaders, including Altaf Ahmed Butt, Raja Khadim Hussain, Abdul Hameed Lone, Shafique Ahmed Butt, Khawaja Shafiq Ahmed, Rashid Yaqoob, and Tariq Ahmed attended the reception.
