Mushaal Mullick Calls for Global Action Against Indian Policies in Kashmir

Islamabad, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, has called on the international community to end its silence and act decisively to prevent what she termed as state terrorism by the Modi-led Indian government in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). This plea was made during a poster exhibition at the National College of Arts (NCA) on Kashmir Solidarity Day, aiming to raise awareness about the plight of the people in IIOJK through the medium of art.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mullick, alongside Sabien Hussein Mullick, a focal person to the Special Assistant, emphasized the power of art in fostering empathy and bringing attention to the Kashmiri struggle for justice. The exhibition at NCA was highlighted as a testament to the artistic talent present within the institution, serving as a platform to project the Kashmiri narrative and struggle.

The Special Assistant expressed grave concerns over the alignment of the Indian judiciary with the RSS ideology and the Modi government’s fascist policies, specifically criticizing the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to revoke Kashmir’s special status. She referred to the proceedings against Kashmiri political leaders as examples of judicial terrorism.

Mullick also accused the Modi administration of attempting to manipulate the judicial system to impose a death sentence on Yasin Malik, chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, on trumped-up charges for political gains. She lamented the ongoing information and communication blockade in IIOJK, which she said hampers the flow of accurate and unbiased information from the region.

Furthermore, she highlighted the issuance of domiciles to non-Kashmiris by the Indian government, interpreting this as an attempt to alter the demographic balance of the region in anticipation of any future plebiscite, contrary to United Nations resolutions. Mullick’s remarks underscore the pressing need for international intervention to address the situation in IIOJK and support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
