Islamabad, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment Mushaal Hussein Mullick has apprised the British parliamentarians of the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mushaal Hussein Mullick was addressing a meeting of cross-party British parliamentarians, convened by Debbie Abrahams, MP and Chairperson of All Parties Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPG) at a virtual platform from London.
Besides British parliamentarians, members of the civil society and human rights organisations also participated in the virtual debate, which circled around the state of human rights affairs in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Mushaal Mullick apprised the parliamentarians of human rights abuses by the Indian government in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. She particularly raised the issue of gross violations of human rights against women and children in the occupied territory.
She said that Kashmiris were deeply concerned over attempts to alter the demographics of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. She said that the world was not paying enough attention to the resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.
She called upon the world community to uphold international human rights obligations and help implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. She strongly urged the British parliamentarians to help halt rights violations and repeal draconian laws in IIOJK.
Mashaal Mullick said that her husband Muhammad Yasin Malik, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), was a political prisoner and had been languishing in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail for years. Their young daughter has been deprived of meeting her own father and she was seriously concerned about the health and well-being of Yasin Malik, she lamented.
She feared that Yasin Malik would be awarded a death sentence against his appeal and appealed to the UK parliamentarians to raise their concerns over this injustice.
