London, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, addressed a group of cross-party British Parliamentarians in a virtual meeting organized by Debbie Abrahams MP, Chairperson of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting focused on the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Press Information Department, Mushaal Mullick provided a detailed briefing on the human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian Government in IIOJK, with a special emphasis on the violations against women and children. She highlighted the plight of minorities in India, particularly forced conversions under the RSS ideology, and expressed deep concern over attempts to change the demographic makeup of IIOJK. Mullick criticized the international community for its insufficient attention to the Jammu & Kashmir dispute, which has been unresolved on the UN agenda for 75 years.
During her address, she urged the international community to fulfill its human rights obligations and assist in implementing the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir. Mullick called for active engagement from British Parliamentarians to stop human rights violations and repeal draconian laws in IIOJK, including those related to demographic engineering.
Highlighting a personal note, Mullick mentioned her husband Yasin Malik, chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), who is currently imprisoned in India’s Tihar Jail. She expressed grave concern for his health and well-being, fearing that he might be sentenced to death in an upcoming hearing. Mullick’s appeal to the UK Parliamentarians emphasized the dire need for international voices to speak against this injustice.
Mullick concluded by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to address the British Parliamentarians and human rights activists via the APPG-Kashmir forum. She thanked them for their solidarity with the Kashmiri people, who continue to face oppression and human rights abuses.
