Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Malik, the wife of jailed Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik and Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization, has urged the creation of a ‘People’s Alliance’ to counteract the ongoing occupations by Indian and Israeli forces in Kashmir and Palestine.
Speaking at a rally commemorating International Palestine Day, Malik highlighted the parallel strategies employed by India and Israel in suppressing freedom movements and maintaining their occupations. She condemned Israel’s unilateral abandonment of a ceasefire agreement with Palestinians, calling it a violation of international law.
Malik expressed grave concern over the conditions in Indian-administered Kashmir and Palestine, describing them as areas of extreme violence against civilians, including women and children. She highlighted incidents of sexual violence in Kashmir, noting over 11,000 cases of rape or molestation by Indian forces since 1989, including the 1991 Kunan Poshpora incident.
She criticized the isolation of Kashmir through internet restrictions and media suppression, which she argued prevents global awareness. Malik also lamented the lack of action from global powers and the United Nations, contrasting their inaction with the support shown to Ukraine.
Malik called on Muslim civil societies to unite against the Indian and Israeli administrations. She advocated for legal actions and digital campaigns to expose the oppressions faced by people in Kashmir and Palestine.
“I will reach out to civil society groups in Pakistan and the Muslim world to build a People’s Alliance against these oppressions,” she concluded.
