Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Malik, the wife of incarcerated Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik, has called on the media to challenge and expose what she describes as India’s “fake narrative” on the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a news conference held in Islamabad on Monday, Malik detailed actions by India’s BJP government that she claims are altering the demographic balance in IIOJK. She reported that in the last five years, five million domicile certificates have been issued to non-Kashmiri Indian citizens, with plans to settle an additional five million non-Kashmiris in the territory.
Malik criticized the legitimacy of the upcoming elections in IIOJK, labeling them as fraudulent and asserting that the candidates do not truly represent the Kashmiri people. She reinforced the Kashmiri commitment to the Hurriyet leadership and their ongoing struggle for self-determination and independence in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
Further, Malik called for the restoration of statehood, the reversal of Articles 370 and 35-A, the demilitarization of IIOJK, and the unconditional release of Hurriyet leaders. She also emphasized the importance of establishing Kashmir societies nationwide to educate and mobilize youth around the Kashmir cause.
