Mushaal Hussein Mullick Honors Yasin Malik on Fifth Anniversary of His Detention in India

Islamabad, In a significant expression of solidarity, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Human Rights and Women Empowerment, commemorated the fifth anniversary of Mohammad Yasin Malik’s detention in Indian jails, denouncing it as unlawful. Mullick, who is also the wife of Malik, critiqued the Indian government for its treatment of the Kashmiri activist, emphasizing the harsh conditions of his imprisonment and calling for international attention to his case.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mullick highlighted the initial detention of Malik by Indian forces in 2019 and his subsequent transfer to the notorious Delhi Tihar Jail on charges she described as “fake, frivolous, and fabricated.” She condemned the Indian government’s attempt to silence the voice of the Kashmir freedom struggle through such measures. Despite the severe health decline and solitary confinement faced by Malik, Mullick pointed out that he remained steadfast in his principles, undeterred by the Indian state’s efforts to break his spirit.

The SAPM’s statement also drew attention to the broader context of human rights abuses in the region, referencing the Kunan-Poshpora incident as a symbol of the violence endured by Kashmiris. She urged UN bodies and human rights organizations to advocate for Malik and other Kashmiri prisoners, whom she hailed as heroes for their unwavering commitment to their cause.

Mullick’s tribute to Malik and her call to action underscore the ongoing tensions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), as well as the complex interplay of politics, human rights, and international diplomacy surrounding the issue. Her statements serve as a reminder of the enduring struggle for freedom and justice in the region, and the significant human cost associated with it.
