Mushaal Hussein Mullick Calls for End to Global Double Standards on Kashmir and Palestine

Islamabad, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment in Pakistan, has called attention to the apparent double standards in the international community’s approach to the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mullick addressed these concerns as the chief guest at a seminar titled “US policies on the issues of Kashmir and Palestine,” organized by the Area Study Center for Africa, North and South America at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad. The seminar featured a range of distinguished speakers, including the Ambassador of Iran in Pakistan, Reza Amiri Mughaddam, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, and several others, and attracted students, media professionals, and members of civil society.

In her address, Mullick criticized the global landscape for its focus on economic opportunities, power dynamics, and materialistic gains, often at the expense of moral values and principles. She specifically pointed out the shifts in U.S. policies towards Kashmir and Palestine, suggesting that these changes are more aligned with strategic interests rather than a commitment to democratic principles and human rights.

Mullick also highlighted the worsening global human rights situation, mentioning the challenges faced by minorities in India and the oppression in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She stressed the importance of resolving the issues in Kashmir and Palestine for achieving global peace and security.

She drew parallels between the aspirations of the people in Kashmir and Palestine, both seeking freedom from oppressive regimes. Mullick lamented the lack of interest from India and Israel in pursuing peaceful resolutions and called for unity among the people of IIOJK and Palestine in their resistance movements.

Furthermore, she emphasized the need for innovative strategies in the freedom movements of IIOJK and Palestine and expressed concern over the silencing of peaceful voices in these regions. She specifically mentioned the trial of Kashmiri Hurriyat Leader Mohammad Yasin Malik by India and the conditions of other jailed Hurriyat leaders.

At the end of the seminar, Mullick visited an art gallery showcasing the lives of people in Kashmir and Palestine under occupation and left her remarks on a wall of solidarity. She thanked the organizers for their efforts in raising awareness about the issues of Kashmir and Palestine among the younger generation.
