Munir urges Pakistanis to keep alive spirit of freedom on Pakistan Day

Islamabad, March 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram has called for helping the poor, disadvantaged, weak, and vulnerable segments of society in lines with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

In his message on occasion of Pakistan Day being celebrated today [Wednesday], he said eighty-three years ago on this day, the Muslims of the South Asian sub-continent passed the Pakistan Resolution, demanding a separate homeland. Muslims believed that only in this homeland they can live their lives according to their faith and be free from the oppression of the enemy majority.

The envoy said on this day, we pay tribute to the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and all the leaders of the freedom movement who envisioned, struggled and sacrificed for the establishment of Pakistan.

Munir Akram said it was the foresight and strength of our founding father that enabled us to live in freedom, the freedom to practice our faith, freedom to pursue our individual and collective well-being.

He said on this day, I would like to remember my Muslim brothers and sisters, who are still suffering persecution at the hands of Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Munir Akram says on this day, we must also commit ourselves to work diligently and honestly to improve the conditions of all our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, especially the poor, the disadvantaged, the weak, and the vulnerable.
