Jammu, June 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Kathua Municipal Council Chief Executive Officer has been attached after the demolition drive that led to widespread protests in the district. The protests by traders were held after the authorities damaged a commercial complex in the district.
Amid a heavy deployment of police personnel, men and machines of the Kathua Municipal Council, led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Santosh Kotwal, attempted to carry out the demolition drive at the complex located on the Shaheedi Chowk road.
The owner of the building, Mohinder Mahajan, reached the spot and raised objections to the action. He asked the CEO to show the demolition notice. The CEO failed to produce it, resulting in anger among the traders’ community and triggering protests.
The protesters sat on a sit-in, blocking a highway in the district. Later, the leaders of the political parties also joined the protest. The protest was lifted after the intervention of the DC Kathua who invited the family members for the talk in his office.
The authorities later on Tuesday attached the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Santosh Kotwal and constituted a probe committee to ascertain the veracity of facts regarding the procedure followed in the related case by Municipal Committee, Kathua.
