Mumbai Shops Ransacked in Communal Attack by Hindutva Mobs

Mumbai, In a surge of communal violence, Hindutva mobs launched an attack on Muslim-owned businesses in the Mira Road area of Mumbai, Maharashtra, causing significant damage and injuring several individuals.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the attacks, which occurred just days after earlier unrest in the locality, saw mobs targeting shops and assaulting people in a Muslim-dominated neighborhood. Footage disseminated across social media platforms depicts the mobs, armed with sticks, violently assaulting a driver whose vehicle bore a Muslim name, and attacking other individuals present.

Eyewitness accounts and video evidence illustrate the severity of the assault, with one individual, Mohammed Meraj, requiring seven stitches on his head due to the injuries sustained. Abdul Haque, the owner of the attacked vehicle, expressed reluctance to pursue legal action out of fear of further complications, despite the proximity of the police during the incident.

Visuals captured by CCTV and shared widely online also show a boutique and a chicken shop owned by Muslims being vandalized, alongside a dairy shop where an elderly man’s pleas were ignored until the shop’s shutters were forcibly closed by the attackers.

In a related incident, the district of Nashik in Maharashtra witnessed violent confrontations as a group of Qadianis, armed with swords, reportedly invaded Muslim homes, leaving several, including women, injured. The catalyst for this aggression remains uncertain.

The series of attacks highlight the growing religious tensions and the vulnerability of minority communities in the region, raising concerns about the adequacy of protection provided by local authorities and the need for swift and decisive action to prevent further violence.
