Mumbai Police Imposes Section 144 Prohibitory Orders Ahead of Festive Season

Karachi, In a preemptive measure to ensure public safety during the upcoming festive season, the Mumbai Police has announced the imposition of prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). These orders will be in effect in the city from December 20, 2023, to January 18, 2024.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Mumbai Police’s decision comes just days ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, traditionally periods of heightened activity and large gatherings in the city. To bolster security measures, the police have banned the flying of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, para motors, hand gliders, and hot air balloons over Mumbai for a duration of 30 days.

However, the police specified that flying such objects for aerial surveillance by law enforcement or under the specific written permission of the deputy commissioner of police (operations) will be allowed. This prohibition is a part of broader efforts to maintain public order and prevent any disturbances during the festive period.

The imposition of these prohibitory orders reflects the Mumbai Police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its residents and visitors during a time of significant public celebration.
