Islamabad, Special Assistant to the Pakistan Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, claimed today that India was perpetrating offenses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) akin to the reported war crimes by Israel in Palestine. Furthermore, she alleged that India was keeping its actions in IIOJK under wraps by suppressing media and communication.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, she made these statements while addressing a press conference in Islamabad. She was joined by senior figures from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter, including Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, and Sheikh Abdul Mateen. Mullick pointed out the widespread availability of videos depicting Israeli actions in Palestine on social media platforms. Contrarily, she accused India of concealing its alleged actions in IIOJK, citing the use of chemical weapons, pellet guns, and alleged targeting of medical facilities.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Mullick mentioned that while global focus shifted to the health crisis, India intensified its operations in IIOJK against the Kashmiri liberation movement. She drew parallels between Israel and India, accusing both nations of committing genocidal acts against Palestinians and Kashmiris, respectively, without facing repercussions. Mullick expressed disappointment over the inaction of global human rights entities regarding these alleged offenses.
Reflecting on historical context, Mullick highlighted October 27, 1947, as a significant date when India assumed control over Kashmir, contrary to the wishes of its residents. She raised concerns about potential regional repercussions if the Kashmir dispute remained unresolved.
Moreover, Mullick suggested that extremist factions outside India, associated with the RSS, were allegedly targeting Sikhs and Kashmiris. She also anticipated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi might intensify actions in Kashmir to secure support from extremist segments of the Indian population ahead of the 2024 elections.
Citing worsening conditions in IIOJK, Mullick claimed that non-Kashmiri residents from various Indian states were being granted domiciles in the region, potentially altering its demographic makeup. She further highlighted the detention of key Kashmiri leaders by Indian authorities.
Concluding the conference, leaders from APHC-AJK called on the UN to enforce its resolutions pertaining to the Kashmir issue, lamenting India’s alleged disregard for these resolutions and international legal standards in the occupied region.
