Jammu, December 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, historic Mughal Road connecting Rajouri and Poonch district of Jammu region with the Kashmir Valley has been permanently closed for about three months.
Officials said that due to continuous snowfall at Pir ki Gali and in the adjoining areas of Mughal Road from 25th December, road is not in a condition to be thrown open to traffic. It is pertinent to mention here that this road has been closed for several times before this also due to snowfall but was thrown open again after clearing of the snow.
Senior officials of Public Works (Roads and Buildings) Department said that due to continuous snowfall, accumulation of snow in higher reaches, it is now impossible to clear snow and open the road for vehicular movement as snow fall will occur again and again now onwards and moreover road would remain slippery as well. “The road will remain closed for about three months and snow clearance work will get started after March which will depend on the weather condition,” they added.
