Islamabad, June 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ms. Nilofar Bakhtiar, Chairperson NCSW along with Council General, Pakistan Embassy Montreal Mr. Ishtiak Ahmed Akil, led the Pakistani section at parade of 154 Nations as part of the 104th Lions Clubs International Convention, being held from 23-29 June 2022, Montreal. Lions Club International (LCI) is an international organization comprising of volunteers and partners working together for common causes to improve health and well-being.
It is collaborating to strengthen communities; to support those in need through humanitarian services and to provide grants that impact lives globally. This club encourages peace and international understanding by celebrating community and diversity. Every year, LCI holds its International Convention and this year’s convention is being held at Montréal, Canada from June 24-28, 2022. This convention is attended by international presidents, officers, Board of Directors and other concerned dignitaries who gather from around the world to reaffirm their pledge to fully participate for the great causes of LCI.
Pakistan has around 10,000 LCI Members from all over the country. This year international convention is being held after a gap of two years due to COVID-19 restrictions. At this occasion, Pakistani Consulate in Montreal hosted a special event in the honor of Chairperson NCSW Ms. Nilofar Bakhtiar.
In her address, Chairperson appraised the house about the role and achievements of Pakistani women. She highlighted the current initiatives for women empowerment through policy reforms and legislations. She said that it was indeed a proud moment for her to lead the Pakistan contingent along with Council General in the parade of 154 Nations by Lions Clubs International.
